Policosanol Side Effects
Policosanol side effects...
Anytime you take a supplement, it's always wise to investigate for possible side effects.
However, fortunately, the side effects of policonsaol are almost always mild, and not serious.
For example, some of these side effects of policosanol that have been reported (even these are extremely rare) are: headaches, migraines, skin rashes, feeling of drowsiness or lethargy, insomnia, irritability, and upset stomach.
It's possible other policosanol side effects exist as well that we are not aware of.
Another caution to take is to realize that policosanol acts as a blood thinner, so if you are on any other blood thinners (such as aspirin) let your doctor know before you take it.
In fact, it's advisable you always consult with your physician before taking supplements of any kind, especially if you are pregnant or nursing.
Below is a study conducted on rats using very high doses of policosanol over a period of several months, which shows even at these doses policosanol was safe.
Granted, one cannot automatically assume what applies to rats will apply to humans.
