Myoplex Shakes

Myoplex Ready to Drink

Myoplex shakes are among the most popular of all nutritional supplements, not only favored by bodybuilders, but most any athelete.

We here at Nutritional-Supplement-Info personally use them often after a grueling work out.

We buy myoplex ready to drink -- just shake, peel off the top, and suck it down -- but the much more economical way to buy it is by the boxful -- which we also do sometimes.

These typically come with 20 packets per box, which means you can make 20 myoplex shakes.

It's A LOT more economical than buying them individually at your gym.

Our Powerhouse gym charges 4 dollars for just one myoplex ready to drink! That's a 120 dollars a month or $1,460 a year if we drank one everyday at the gym!

If you buy myoplex shakes by the box and mix them yourself, you can normally get it for a price of around 35 to 40 dollars.

Which comes out to only about 2 dollars per shake -- a huge savings, especially if you intend to consume one everyday.

OK, let's talk a bit about what's in the myoplex shakes, what makes them good. Also, we do have some misgivings about them -- some ingredients we wished weren't in them.

In short, we'll discuss the pros and cons.

Ready? Let's start...

First, the good stuff: myoplex is made from some of the best protein sources around. We're talking whey protein concentrate, which is just fantastic stuff, and egg proteins too, which are a close second.

Whey protein is good not just for building lean muscle; it's just good for the body's health overall. We cover it in more detail here. Egg protein is really good stuff...although we think whey protein concentrate is better because studies have shown it is more quickly absorbed and utilized by the body -- crucial stuff post workout. Myoplex shakes also have a really good vitamin and mineral blend and have some interesting amino acids like l-glutamine. Great stuff for the health conscious. On the negative side, it also contains ingredients like corn syrup, sunflower oil, artificial flavors and some other less than desirable substances. Corn syrup is particularly unhealthy. Doubtlessly, it was used to enhance the taste of the myoplex shakes, but we wished they had chosen something else as a sweetener. What's good to see is that instead of using pure sugar, they are using sucralose instead. Sucralose is derived from sugar, but has no calories -- and is also much sweeter than sugar. We'd much prefer to see myoplex shakes and myoplex ready to drink cut out all of the corn syrup and increase the sucralose. As for taste, we have personally tried chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. All of them are really good. We mean really good tasting stuff. You'd probably drink it just for the creamy, rich taste alone. We enjoy all three, but stawberry happens to be our favorite by far. But this is subjective. Different people like different flavors. But it's worth noting that the ingredients of the myoplex shakes and myoplex ready to drink varies slightly depending on which flavor you choose. So make sure you look at the ingredient label before deciding. And, remember, if you want to buy myoplex ready to drink as opposed to myoplex shakes in which you have to mix it up yourself, be prepared to pay much more. You are paying for convenience. If you are interested in trying Myoplex, the most reputable online merchant we have found is MuscleSurf.
