Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar tablets and supplements...
You have probably received email pitches like millions of other people for apple cider vinegar supplements.
Most of these ads pitch apple cider vinegar as some sort of weight loss/ fat burning miracle product.
There is even an apple cider vinegar diet that's been gaining in popularity as well in conjunction with this.
But is it just marketing hype or are these claims really true?
Let's take a look, and also investigate some of the other health benefits of apple cider vinegar.
First, what does the medical literature say about the weight loss/ fat loss claims since these seem to be the most widespread these days, especially for all those apple cider vinegar tablets being sold?
Unfortunately, there is no real, hard proof that apple cider vinegar tablets or supplements will help promote weight loss and fat burning effects. None. Zero.
When we say "real" we mean no publications of clinical studies peer-reviewed, scientific journals that show there is some truth to the claims.
In short, if you want to take apple cider vinegar tablets and supplements for weight loss, you have nothing to base its efficacy on except that of the marketers trying to sell it to you. No thanks, we'll pass.
Now, what about the purported health benefits of apple cider vinegar?
There's no question that apple cider vinegar has been used for thousands of years. There is even reference to it in the Bible, which states it to be a healing agent.
One of the most prominent health claims is that it helps alkalize the body. These are the same quite ridiculous claims made about coral calcium.
The argument, in the most simple terms, goes like this: many degenerative diseases are caused by a too acidic environment in the body...by countering that acidity (that is, by alkalizing it), we can also prevent or treat many of these diseases.
This is a pretty far-fetched claim, and even if it turns out to be true in the fullness of time, there is scant evidence that apple cider vinegar can actually alkalize the body.
Now, let's get to some health benefits of apple cider vinegar that are in fact true.
The first is that it is a good source of potassium, which is a mineral that can play a pivotal health function in the body.
For example, potassium promotes cell growth, and may help counter high blood pressure that results from too much sodium intake.
It may also help people with irregular heart beats.
Other known health benefits of apple cider vinegar are that is contains antioxidants, which may neutralize some free radical damage, and it harbors anti-bacterial properties.
Some more speculative health claims are that it may help improve digestion, and improve immune system function.
So what's the bottomline? Yes, it has some properties that would seem to make it beneficial for health, but as a weight loss/fat burning agent, look elsewhere.
In addition, we would be remiss if we didn't point out that apple cider vinegar is extremely cheap to buy at your local grocery, so it doesn't make sense to us to even consider buying extremely high priced apple cider vinegar tablets and supplements that are often sold through email marketing pitches.
However, we don't pretend to tell you what you should do with your own money. If you want to try them out, go for it. Just don't expect any miracles.
